When I started this blog over a year ago, I did it for three purposes. First, I love to read and discuss the books that I read. I have few personal friends who read as much as I do, so it helps to have this as an outlet. My second reason is to inform readers about the books that I read so that they may make inform reading choices. I may not get a lot of comments on my reviews, but I hear from readers often that they purchase books based on my recommendations. Lastly, I write this blog to pay it forward to other authors. Ours is a competitive business, one that requires a lot of work with no guarantee of reward, monetary or otherwise. It is my sincerest hope that I am able to promote up-and-coming, indie authors in order to give their hard work the kudos it deserves.
Up to this point, I have done this all for free. To be honest, the thought never occurred to me to do it otherwise. However, it was suggested to me recently that I might want to allow readers to contribute donations, like a tip jar. I am a writer who is living off of student loans and a part-time job in order to do what I love. This blog takes up a considerable amount of my time. All I ask is that if you like what you read and are interested in contributing, I would greatly appreciate it.
